K-Tech steering dampers are a lightweight aluminium design available for many applications, manufactured in conjunction with Toby Dampers. Available in seven lengths for road and race use they are fully serviceable and come supplied with all the necessary mounting components to fit the make and model of the motorcycle.
Steering dampers help to reduce front end head shake, improving rider confidence and control. Steering dampers are a must for high performance applications where stability is a priority. K-Tech Suspension partnered with premium Belgian damper manufacturer Toby to offer bike-specific street or race damper kits. Available in easy to install kit form including damper and brackets or a variety of length/stroke dampers for custom fitments. Street damper hardware kits typically retain original lock-to-lock steering and include a wide range adjustable damper with hard chromed shaft. Race damper kits are designed to reduce steering lock range and include hardware for bolt on installation with a "firmer range of settings" DLC-coated lightweight aluminum shaft damper.
K-Tech Suspension Steering Dampers are precision crafted to exacting tolerances for incredible control and consistent performance under the most demanding street and race conditions. The bodies of the K-Tech linear steering dampers are made from aerospace grade 7075 aluminum which is CNC machined and reamed to a tolerance of 5 microns, and then highly polished to a high gloss to reduce friction (internal surfaces). The body of the damper is then anodized for corrosion resistance and great looks. The internal expansion reservoir allows for heated oil expansion, and automatically moves cool oil back to the damper body. The specially selected CK45 steel shaft has superior strength and hardness, and allows for size accuracy and concentricity - which helps to minimize wear and reduce friction - and is also highly polished. The ball joint end is self-lubricating to eliminate grease nipples, and sourced from Japan. Kits for specific motorcycles will include a K-Tech Suspension linear steering damper (in the required length and stroke) as well as precision CNC machined billet aluminum brackets, anodized for protection, and the necessary hardware for installation to your machine. K-Tech Suspension linear steering dampers are also available separately as replacements or for custom applications.
